Summer is the time to chill by the pool, lay on the beach, and hit the road with your family and friends. Get ready to roll the windows down and blast your favorite music!

But while there’s nothing wrong with having some road trip fun this summer, it’s essential to take summer travel precautions to ensure your vehicle is ready for traveling these warmer months.

For starters, check for recalls. Millions of cars are recalled every year for factory defects. Before hitting the road, it’s best to check and see if your vehicle is on the recall list. To find out if your car has been recalled, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website and enter your 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) number. You can also sign up for recall alerts. If you need repairs, get them taken care of as soon as possible.
